Hardin Insurance (Athens, GA). Independent
Insurance Agency.
Two applications developed using Microsoft Access:
1. Telemarketing lead management. Developed application to
allow the management of internal and purchased leads for this multi-line
insurance agency.
2. Website lead management. Leads from multiple forms on
company web sites (Web sites also originally developed my MURCON) are
downloaded to network-based application for working by telemarketing
personnel.
3. Medicare Supplement Quoting. Application developed that
allows the agent to enter applicant age and location data and produce
reports that allow the agent to quickly determine the best plans and
provider for the applicant. The MS Access application handles
multiple insurance carriers in multiple states. |

Ten Cate (Pendergrass, GA). Textile industry.
Five application areas:
1. Modified a portion of the Quality Control database developed in
MS Access to take a 14
step process and reduce to three steps thereby decreasing the time required
for the process significantly and reducing operator error.
2. Re-worked ISO qualification documentation using
MS Word to combine seven separate sections into a single, consistent
document.
3. Re-developed human resources information
management application to formalize and expand the original application.
Of note was the addition of a personnel training data module which tracks
all sources of training for each associate by skill to allow skill
validation and new job assignment evaluation. (MS Access)
4. Consolidated the entire Quality Control
system in written in MS Access 97 from a series of disparate
databases into a database system spanning multiple servers, locations, and
users.
Converted to MS Access 2002 in a runtime only environment.
5. Converted to MS Access 2002 and
enhanced an MS Excel based quality control database application for
other company location using MS Access 2002. Now integrating
this application into the main Quality Control system through ODBC.

Bruce Albea Contracting, Inc. Road construction contracting.
MURCON has also implement and customized the
Construction Project Management
application in this company implemented at Granite
Contracting and Concrete Supply Company. One unique feature is an interface to
their accounting system. The interface transfers payroll information
entered in Project Manager into the accounting system package called
Construction Manager. BAC is now in the process of implementing the
Haul Ticket application as well that is installed at
Granite and Concrete Supply.

CAM Realty. Residential and commercial real estate sales and
development company.
Developed MS Access 2000 application based on county real estate tax
records. Converted county tax data files to Access format.
Created user interface to allow multi-criteria selection of records to view
and print. Application also allows creation of mailing lists based on
street name of properties to allow company to "farm" a particular
area. Application gives company competitive advantage through quick
access to data and rapid response to marketing opportunities.

Granite Contracting, Inc. Road construction company.
For Granite, MURCON has implemented and customized two of the
applications originally developed for Concrete Supply Company as discussed below:
Project Management and Haul Ticket.

Concrete Supply Company. Large, multi-location supplier of
concrete products to the road and commercial construction industries.
MURCON has developed multiple applications using MS Access for this company.
1. Project Management. The
construction project management application originally developed for APAC-Carolina
has also been implemented and enhanced by Concrete Supply Company.
Project management and job cost system for road construction projects.
Conversion and consolidation of pieces of systems written in PARADOX
4.5, Microsoft Excel, and FilePro to MS ACCESS plus additional
development in MS ACCESS.
2. Haul Ticket. This accounts receivable data management and reporting
application was developed to manage the daily haul and material tickets
generated from supplying concrete products to customers. Data related
to hundreds of loads of concrete and raw materials per month are entered
and reconciled to pay truckers and suppliers each month.
3. Productivity. This is a personnel productivity
application. The application consolidates and summarizes daily
employee and equipment utilization data from multiple input and ODBC sources into
meaningful performance reports. Highly complex data manipulation and
reporting.
4. Fuel Maintenance. This is a distributed data entry,
centralized reporting application. The application consolidates
daily fuel usage by company vehicles. Gallons used is costed and
reports are run for and distributed to all levels in the organization.
5. Concrete Testing Quality Control. Concrete castings data
is entered into Excel spreadsheets in the field. The data is
imported into MS Access application after validation process. Test
data then entered as testing is completed at different date intervals.
Reports generated. Application is linked to in-house Oracle
database for customer, project, concrete mix, and other base data.

HomeNurse, Inc. (formerly CrossRoads Home Services, Inc.). Home
care services provider.
HomeNurse provides clients throughout the state of Georgia with personal
home care services. MURCON developed data management and accounts
receivables system for HomeNurse over the past three years. This is a
comprehensive system that keeps track of data on over 700 clients and the
over 400 personnel that are required to provide services to those clients as
well as providing modules to bill clients and collect reimbursements from
government agencies. This system has recently been converted from an
Access file server environment to an Access/SQL Server client server
environment. (MS Access)

Walk Thru The Bible Ministries. International developer and distributor of
Christian literature and seminar materials.
Company has seven separate customer related databases developed in multiple computer
languages on multiple servers. MURCON developed a data mart that combined
these databases into a single client server data mart using Microsoft
Access and SQL Server. This data mart enables multiple entities within the organization, among other things, to discover and take
advantage of cross selling opportunities within the customer base.

Color Burst, Inc. Multi-state Landscape Management
firm.
Developed system in Microsoft Access (Originally in Access 97 and
currently in Access 2003) that manages all phases of
the business and interfaces to RealWorld accounting system. Runs at
headquarters on 10 workstation, Windows 2000 Server network.
Accessible remotely by branches in other states. Includes customer, planting site, and contact data with the
ability to print mailing labels envelopes and status reports. Includes bid
preparation and installation and maintenance personnel scheduling modules. Includes inventory and planting site
maintenance modules. Provides extensive management reporting. Essentially, this
system provides support for all areas of this business except accounting and payroll.
MURCON continues to support this company and expand the application.

The Grayfen Group, Inc. Management consulting firm.
Acted as firms software development resource for multiple simultaneous projects
for large accounts. Support multiple information management applications developed in
multiple versions of MS Access.
MURCON has participated in five
projects with The Grayfen Group to date. Four of them involved either
development of or revision of database applications. The fifth and
latest was a process re-engineering project.
1. One application centered around evaluating the impact of raw materials price changes.
2. Another application centralized data entry and reporting activities relating to hotel room contract
management effectiveness. An innovative English language query capability was added
to Microsoft Access to enable data mining by company executives.
3. A third application systematized data collection, reporting, and analysis of volume purchase opportunities and
purchase contracts using an Internet-based database replication and
synchronization technique.
4. A fourth application consolidated multiple vendor performance data
databases into a single entity. Included a customized, secure front end
for executive access and reporting purposes.
5. The most recent project involved re-engineering the outside repair
parts process for a major transportation company.

Fisher Scientific Worldwide. Multi-national
manufacturer and distributor of a broad line of chemicals and scientific equipment.
Multiple applications
have been developed and continue to be supported for Fisher (Note: All
applications were developed in MS Access 97 or MS Access 2000. All
were converted to MS Access 2000):1. Developed Sales History Analysis application using
Microsoft Access.
Imported dealer and end-user sales for countries in Latin America. Produced reports to
evaluate high dollar amount and high volume products and accounts for dealers, end-users
and both combined. Displayed margins to evaluate profitability of ranked product sales.
Enabled marketing department to better evaluate profitability of products and customers.
2. Developed and implemented Electronic Price Book system using
Microsoft Access
versions 2.0/95/97. Using corporate master product table and discount tables for the
company's 25 distributor/dealer network, created custom product price databases for each
distributor/dealer. These self-installable CD's are sent to entities worldwide. Some
copies use security keys, or "dongles," for data security. This is an
on-going project scheduled to be repeated annually.
3. Developed Hazardous Materials Data Management Systems (HazMat) with second
MURCON consultant. Full cycle development of multi-user, Microsoft NT networked, Microsoft
Access 97 system used to keep track of shipping requirements data for hazardous
materials. Converted from a Clarion system and enhanced. Interfaces to ExpDoc below to
supply hazardous data to Traffic Department.
4. Developed Export Documentation System (ExpDoc). Full cycle development of
multi-user system to automate the production of documentation required to ship merchandise
internationally, including hazardous materials. Developed using Microsoft Access v 2.0.
Converted mid-stream to version 7.0 and recently to version 8.0. Microsoft NT network.
Complex system with easy to use GUI used to produce international invoice, packing lists,
bills of lading, hazardous materials documents, etc. Uses a unique Soundex coding name
comparison module to recognize federally mandated companies restricted from doing business
with U.S. companies. Allowed client to move this Traffic function in-house from a freight
forwarder. Significant savings. Initial system completed December, 1996. System continuing
to be expanded and enhanced.
5. Developed Order Management Reporting System (OMRS). Full cycle development of
multi-user system using Microsoft Access 2.0. Later converted to version 7.0 then to
version 8.0 on Microsoft NT network. Import of open orders records from in-house IS. User
interface to convert data and produce variety of reports using a point and click interface
to specify selection and sorting criteria. Module added to allow international
subsidiaries to enter critical order cycle data and send to main office via
internet
where used to update database. Module added to allow management to evaluate time intervals
between key order cycle dates to identify vendor, order, shipping problems. Initial system
paid for itself in after one week's use by allowing users to identify orders that had
shipped but had not been invoiced.
Most of these systems are currently NOT use.

New development using Microsoft
Access. Project

consolidation of pieces of systems written in PARADOX 4.5, Microsoft Excel, and FilePro
to MS ACCESS 2.0 plus additional development in MS ACCESS 2.0. Latest
enhancements include additional management reporting and porting to
additional branch locations with a replication-like branch-headquarters
synchronization module. (These applications at
APAC not currently active. APAC acquired by another company.)
